LGBT Parade

Pride Logo 300x271 San Diego LGBT Parade and FestivitiesSaturday July 16, 2011 kicked off the 37th Annual San Diego LGBT Pride Parade. With over 150,000 cheering spectators, this is the 5th largest Pride Parade in the United States!

The parade began at University Avenue and Normal Street and headed west on University Avenue to 6th Avenue and ended at Balboa Drive and Upas Street.

This year’s theme was “Pride Around the World”. The community came together to spread joy, hope happiness and love with the goal that LGBT Pride can be celebrated not only throughout our city but around the world!

In addition to the LGBT Pride Parade was the always fun and fabulous festival which included multiple stages of entertainment, more than 80 musicians, bands, comedy and dance performers, 300 participating vendor booths, an Art exhibit, cultural presentations, and great food.

Many would argue that the special stand out moment of this year’s parade was the 200 LGBT active troops and veterans who proudly marched wearing T-shirts advertising their branch of service.

A big thanks to our very own Ken Tablang who volunteered his time working with the clean up crew! See you all next year!
