Whether you love it or hate it, spring cleaning is a necessary step in keeping your home in tip top shape. But there is more to spring cleaning than just sorting through the closet and emptying out the garage. Spring is the perfect time to inspect your home from top to bottom and conduct some routine maintenance. You can save on current and future maintenance costs by taking these necessary steps each year:

Air Duct Cleaning / HVAC Repairs
Regular maintenance of your home’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning
systems can help avoid costly break-downs in the future. Start by changing your air filters. Keeping air ducts clean can greatly improve the air quality inside your home. Next, call a duct cleaning professional for a cleaning/maintenance inspection. This should include examination and cleaning of ductwork, all supply registers, return air grilles and diffusers, and maintenance on various parts of the system.

Check Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Make sure your home is safe by checking all of your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to be sure they are all in proper working order. We recommend replacing the batteries once a year to ensure they have a strong charge, and to avoid the pesky chirping sound of a low battery that always seems to happen in the middle of the night!

Clear the Gutters
When a gutter is clogged, the stoppage can lead to trapped water that can grow mold and mildew. Your gutters should be unclogged and foliage free. Spring is a great time to clear out leaves, twigs and any other debris that could make the water runoff stop flowing. Gutters should also be securely fastened to the walls of your home and all joints securely fastened together. Regular gutter cleaning can help avoid costly repairs and roof damage
