Mission Hills Historical Plaques

by KenGina Team on February 19, 2013

untitled Mission Hills Historical PlaquesA series of theft began in June 2011 when approximately two dozen historic designation plaques were stripped from the front of historic homes, public buildings and neighborhood markers in communities including Mission Hills and Old Town, as well as in National City and Chula Vista.

After a year of pushing the project along, the Mission Hills Heritage reports six replacement plaques have been installed on the Inspiration Heights Pillars (originally constructed c. 1909) on Sunset Boulevard. Efforts were made to securely attached the pillars with bolts and epoxy to prevent future theft.

The new plaques will take a few years to tarnish and develop patina. Thanks to Chism Brothers Custom Painting, the Inspiration Heights Pillars have been repaired with new stucco and fresh paint.

It is the friendly neighborhood folks at Mission Hills Heritage, Town Council, Chism Brothers Custom Painting and others that make our community so special. Restoration of the charm and history proves to be a priority in the lives of the Mission Hills Community. We are happy and proud to live and work in Mission Hills!
